There are plenty of ways to get into the holiday spirit this weekend on the Wilmington Riverfront! Check out some of these events happening Friday, December 1, through Sunday, December 3.

Holiday Craft Show and Taste of the Holidays at The Delaware Contemporary

200 S Madison St, Friday, December 1, 5pm – 9pm

As part of the First Friday Art Loop in Wilmington, The Delaware Contemporary is hosting their annual Holiday Craft Show and Taste of the Holidays event. The Holiday Craft Show is a festive shopping experience dedicated to enhancing the awareness of contemporary American craft, while providing a venue for emerging and established artists to sell their creative products. This event features local artists offering fine arts and crafts ideal for holiday gifts. During the craft show, Barry’s Events will be hosting Taste of the Holidays. Drink in the spirits of the season at this First Friday holiday party. The tasting will include $1 samples of craft beer, wine, champagne, and more. Proceeds from drink tastings benefit Preston’s March for Energy.

That’s not all! This December Art Loop features the MFA Biennial opening reception, open artist studios, live music and Rolling Revolution food trucks. Preston’s March for Energy will be onsite playing cornhole and will raffle off a wine tasting for 20 at Total Wine. Plus, The Delaware Contemporary will raffle off a $250 gift card to Buckley’s Tavern.

Movies on Tap at Penn Cinema

401 S Madison St, Friday, December 1, 6:30pm

Each month Penn Cinema on the Riverfront hosts Movies On Tap to celebrate local breweries, classic cult films, and community causes. In partnership with Premier Wine & Spirits and Out & About Magazine, Movies on Tap features a meet-and-greet tasting opportunities with some of the area’s most beloved breweries and their brewers while providing a rare opportunity to view cult-classic films on the big screen. Moviegoers have the unique opportunity to hang out with a local brewer, sample and learn about specialty craft beer, and then watch a classic film of the brewer’s choosing – all for a good cause. A percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales are donated to a charity of the brewer’s choice. Movie tickets are $20 and include beer flights and unlimited popcorn.

This month’s featured movie kicks off the holiday season with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Dogfish Head Brewery will be supplying beverages, and the Urban Bike Project will be receiving this proceeds from this event.

Riverfront Pets Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

311 Justison St, Saturday, December 2, 12pm – 5pm 

Join us in welcoming Riverfront Pets to the neighborhood this weekend. Bring the whole family, including your furry friends, for a day of fun. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, enjoy pet photos with Santa, face-painting, snacks and refreshments, and tours of the new store. The first 100 guests will even receive a complimentary gift bag. The Delaware Humane Association will also be bringing adoptable pets if you are inclined to add a new member to your family.

Ice Skating at the Riverfront Rink

308 Justison St, Monday-Thursday: 4pm – 9pm, Friday: 4pm-10pm, Saturday: 11am-10pm, Sunday: 11am-9pm

Lace us your skates, and hit the ice this weekend at the Horizon Services Riverfront Rink. Located at Constitution Yards, the beer garden has once again been transformed into an ice skating rink fit for the holiday season. With a variety of holiday treats available at the concession stand and a warming tent for skaters to thaw out, you have everything you need to spend an afternoon gliding (or perhaps slipping and sliding) across the ice at the Riverfront Rink.
